Our client, an exclusive Austin gaming studio is looking for a Senior Server Engineer to join their team of experienced industry veterans to assist with designing and maintaining SQL and NoSQL based infrastructures.  The ideal Senior Server Engineer candidate will have experience with designing, building, and deploying database solutions.

Responsibilities:
  • Managed SQL and NoSQL databases in Development/QA/Production
  • Complete database health monitoring and diagnostics.
  • Manage system performance and reliability.
  • Integrate monitoring, auditing, and alert systems for databases with existing monitoring infrastructure.
  • Design and maintain backup and recovery architecture.
  • Has the flexibility to perform on-call and off-shift duties when needed.
  • Develop backup and recovery procedures for all database environments.
  • Mentor others in your areas of expertise.
  • Responsible the interaction of the databases and the overall operating system.
  • Keep up with the latest database administration knowledge to ensure program are up-to-date.
  • Work closely with the Operational teams to minimize the impact of database outages.
  • Play a part in developing best practices regarding data management, data architecture, and data design.
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years experience as a DBA.
  • 2+ years of production DBA experience with SQL and NoSQL experience.
  • Can use enterprise ticketing systems.
  • Previous success with deployment tools: CVS, Subversion, Clearcase and Puppet
  • Strong technical background with Operating Systems: Redhat Linux, CentOS.
  • Knowledge of SAN specific database tuning techniques.
  • Experience with hot backups through SAN snapshot technology.
  • Experience with monitoring systems (Nagios Professional, Prometheus, etc…).
  • Experience deploying and managing SQL and NoSQL databases on cloud infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with ETL processes and operations.
  • Certification as Couchbase DBA (CS300).
