A thriving biotechnology company in Asheville, NC is seeking an Assembler to support their manufacturing team.  In this role you will assist with the manufacturing process of high end laboratory equipment for the scientific community.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Experience with drilling holes, adding rivets, screws, bolts, braces, tape, cement or soldering.
  • Selects components, aligns, and assembles them in proper sequence.
  • Ability to select and install the appropriate parts in the specified sequence according to Sequence of Events (SOE).
  • Applies wiring harnesses, sensors, and other electrical components in cabinet as per Sequence of Events (SOE).
  • Familiar with color codes of wiring to ensure that wiring and other color-coded procedures meet guidelines.
  • Operates a wide range of hand tools such as: drills, rivet guns, saw, hy-pot testers, and drill presses.
  • Inspects parts to ensure that the unit meets quality standards.
  • Verifies that custom equipment changes have been made according to order and Smart Part Number.
  • Cleans and packs final product using approved chemicals.
  • Refers to Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) to insure safe handling and proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is used around chemicals.
  • Operates casters, cranes or forklifts.
  • Reorders raw materials inventory and maintains Supermarket racks and inventory accuracy using the correct part numbers and bin locations.
  • Familiar with the Kanban inventory system.
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing initiatives.
  • Performs all job duties consistent with the Code of Ethics and the 4-I Values, serves as a role model in the workplace.
Qualifications:
  • Requires high school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to frequently lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Proficient with computer systems.
  • Experience reading electrical wiring diagrams and blueprints.
  • Previous manufacturing experience.
