As the Commodity Manager, you will be responsible for identifying and implementing strategic procurement goals and objectives. 

  • Develop and implement new commodity strategies, individually and within the team.
  • Develop commodity specific suppliers.
  • Lead negotiations for achieving low commodity prices.
  • Maintain and grow supplier relationships.
  • Meet with suppliers on a frequent basis to share scorecard performance and to speak to areas of improvement.
  • Discuss cost reduction ideas with suppliers.
  • Manage price increase situations and cost improvement initiatives.
  • Renegotiate contracts and establishes multi-year agreements to keep costs low.
  • Negotiate and execute awards either with a buyer or independently. 
  • Ensure buyers stay in compliance with Small Business Administration and Department of Defense regulations in procurement activities.
  • Coordinate, schedules, and facilitates lean/Six Sigma activities. 
  • Develop, tracks, and reports visual metrics, including KPIs for area.
  • Analyze metrics to identify and solve problems.
  • Participate in safety training.
  • Ensure 5S is followed within the work area.
  • 10 years’ experience in buying, cost reduction, strategic sourcing, total cost ownership management, and/or manufacturing or materials experience.
  • BA in a technical discipline, MBA a plus.
  • Ability to understand business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations.
  • Advanced skills in Contract writing.
  • Easily read part prints, excellent in math.
  • Excellent in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • ERP, SAP, or Oracle experience is a plus.
  • The following certification/licenses are required: Certified Purchasing Manager(CPM), Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM), or The Institute for Supply Management (ISM) (ISM is preferred).
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance which requires a US citizenship.
