Job Description
As the Human Resources Representative, this position will be accountable for providing HR support to all salaried and hourly employees and management through effective communication and administration across all functions of the facility. Under the direction of the HRBP, the HR Consultant oversees recruitment, employee development, employee relations/labor relations, policy/contract interpretation, compensation administration and legal compliance.
  • Assist the HRBP with designing/implementing a strategy process that will attract, train, and retain employees to support the organization's short and long term business needs.   
  • Assist in the workforce planning processes for the organization such as recruitment, talent development, succession planning, and realignments/restructures.
  • Ensure the culture & working environment is open, empowering, fair and equitable.
  • Coordinate the recruiting efforts by assisting the recruitment staff to define candidate profiles to ensure the right talent is selected to align with business requirements.
  • Work with site leads to ensure performance; talent and succession planning are implemented and maintained to drive the achievement of company goals through objective and development plan setting, performance calibration, and talent development.
  • Must be comfortable in providing counsel and guidance to the leadership on all people management and development issues.
  • Establish and Maintain effective working relationships with (and between) managers, employees and the leadership team.
  • Maintain relationships with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Promote and foster an environment of open communication and honest, candid feedback.
  • Handle investigations when required.
  • Assist the management team to promote the balance between business and operations, drive employee engagement, and improve manufacturing performance.
  • Position will support the site safety focus by working with the EHS Manager on any initiatives related to employees and the safety of the site.
  • Manage all on-boarding, payroll, performance, and termination processes/procedures for the manufacturing site.
  • Ad-hoc projects as needed.
Skills Desired
  • Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills; ability to analyze data
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Access) and HRIS systems.
  • Excellent communication (both oral and written) and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritize workload and self-manage projects, handle multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines
  • Must be detail oriented and have strong problem solving and decision making skills
  • Must be able to work with all levels of employees and management within the organization and offer off shift coverage and work extended hours
Education and Experience
  • A Bachelor’s (BA or BS) in Human Resource Management or related field (e.g. Business, Organizational Communication, and Industrial Psychology) required. 
  • 3-4 yrs. of hands on experience as a HR Generalist or Representative with a manufacturing plant, distribution center, and/or the pharmaceutical/biotechnical industries.
  • Must have work for a mid-size organization (i.e. 150-300 employees)
  • Prior experience implementing new services and benefit concepts to employees, with a comfort in presenting programs to a large audience.
  • Must have hands on experience with recruitment, employee relations and employee communications. 
  • Must have knowledge of HR laws and applications with an emphasis on California employment law in conjunction with federal compliance.
  • Must have working experience managing employee relations/coaching and the performance management process.
