The SVP | Head of Engineering for our client’s Automotive Practice will be a member of the company’s senior leadership team and is responsible for leading platform and application engineering for the Auto Practice. This person must have a proven track record of successful software product delivery and have a reputation for driving change and delivering results. Our client is looking for an entrepreneurial leader that has experience with large enterprise SaaS platforms and can lead R&D efforts to expand our SaaS capabilities. Specifically, he/she will be responsible for full product development lifecycle through application and platform engineering, design, quality assurance, and customer support. This person will need to demonstrate the ability to develop leaders, train staff, and establish a cohesive software methodology consistent within our Automotive product family. This person must be capable of growing and managing a large scale engineering and development organization.

The SVP | Head of Engineering will be instrumental in taking the division to the next level as it expands its offerings. They will be accountable for the stability, scalability and customer satisfaction with regard to our product platforms. He/She will have a critical eye towards problems and opportunities and get hands on when needed. He/She must have a get-it-done approach, minimizing bureaucracy, with a high degree of enthusiasm and initiative.
Position Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the Executives, Market Leaders, Sales, and Product organization to align engineering to our company value proposition
  • Manage platform operations including tiered support
  • Creating and driving short and long range strategic engineering goals for Automotive
  • Establishing a professional approach to managing the suite of products across all offerings
  • Defining, championing, and delivering future product offerings
  • Overseeing delivery of both new and existing products
  • Supporting strategic corporate development efforts by evaluating technologies
  • Work closely with direct reports and their teams to improve productivity and quality while meeting delivery schedules
  • Build, develop, and retain a first-class development team
  • Drive improvements in software quality by various methods including: proper agile adoption, QA processes, training, and holding staff accountable
  • Establish and report appropriate metrics for development to ensure quality, efficiencies, and productivity
  • Ensure effective and efficient collaboration with Product Management, Client Services, Implementation Services, IT Operations, Sales, and other departments
  • Drive department to achieve objectives and be an effective hands-on leader in day-to-day operations
  • Managing engineering associates in both US and India
  • Directly manage Platform and Application architects, Software Engineering leadership, QA leadership and Operations leadership
Technical Requirements:
  • Recent experience with SaaS based Cloud platforms
  • Has demonstrated ability to manage proprietary and/or sensitive data within a highly secured environment
  • Has experience with the cloud, social media, mobile, and other emerging technologies
  • Has experience re-engineering and migrating technology to the cloud; this includes experience with re-architecting infrastructure, data, and application layers to take full advantage of the resiliency and scalability of the cloud
  • Has prior experience in mixed .NET/JAVA shop
  • Has lead UI efforts in a SaaS offering
Preferred Qualifications:
  • The selected candidate will be an accomplished senior executive with 15+ years of software leadership experience
  • Automotive vertical expertise is a must-have requirement for this role.
  • Automotive OEM, Dealer or large partner/vendor experience within Auto is required.
  • Has prior experience in both managing and motivating a large, diverse, and distributed organization
  • He/she will have demonstrated ability to define and execute strategic initiatives and interface with company executives and customers/clients
  • He/she will have demonstrated ability to define and execute strategic initiatives
  • Experience managing a large, up to 200 resources, engineering team yet also with a hands-on approach to management
  • Experience and success with growing an engineering team to leverage off-shore resources
  • He/she will have strong knowledge of data-driven Automotive marketing programs
  • This individual will have the confidence and credibility to be a driver of both strategic vision and the actions required to bring that vision to reality
  • Bachelor’s Degree required, Advanced Degree preferred
