Summary:
Our client is a top 20 CPA firm in Houston that specializes in working with privately held companies in the 5M to 1B range. They specialize in audit and accounting; business advisory, CEO, CFO/ controller services; key performance indicators; domestic and foreign tax; research and development tax credits; exit strategy; business value enhancement; M&A services, including buy- and sell-side transactions; and more. The firm caters to the manufacturing, service, wholesale, retail, construction, energy and technology industries.

In this role you will have exposure to a number of audit functions and accounting skills that are limited with the large national CPA Firms. Ideal for the Public Accounting CPA that would prefer not to travel or be focused into one industry vertical.  A former public accounting associate who went to private industry and would like to get back into public accounting is ideal, as well.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Organize and lead client engagements from start to finish, including budgets, planning, executing, directing and completion of financial statements and audits
  • Coach and advise team members in client interaction and self-development expectations
  • Develop technical skills and works as part of a team
  • Execute tasks with little coaching and supervision
  • Assist in planning and managing multiple auditing projects
  • Oversee and review Associates’ projects and reports
  • Develop a working knowledge of client business
  • Prepare all necessary financial statement and related disclosures and reportable conditions letters
  • Identify and communicate technical matters to both clients and upper management
  • Supervise, train and mentor junior associates and interns
  • Perform other job related duties as necessary
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in accounting
  • Ability to travel 10 – 20 percent
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Excellent project management, analytical, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Eligible to sit for or has completed CPA, or other designated certification
  • Strong leadership, training and mentoring skills
  • Highly motivated, self-starter with ability to multitask
  • Projects confidence and credibility in technical knowledge
  • Energetic and enthusiastic
