The Company:

Our client, a fully integrated real estate investment trust (REIT), invests primarily in real estate serving the healthcare industry in the United States. The portfolio of assets is diversified among the principal healthcare sectors including: distinct sectors: senior housing, life science, medical office and hospital. 

Job Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Vice President – Tax, the Senior Associate – Tax will be responsible in assisting with all aspects of income tax compliance, including federal and state tax, tax planning activities, and complete other projects as directed. Principal responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Perform REIT tests and REIT administration activities
  • Prepare federal and state tax returns for real estate investment trusts (“REIT”), partnerships and taxable REIT subsidiaries, including estimates and extensions
  • Prepare tax provision schedules
  • Analysis of general ledger accounts for tax transactions including acquisitions and dispositions
  • Prepare and gather apportionment information for state tax returns
  • Maintain fixed asset system, including tracking all acquisitions, dispositions and transfers of assets, reconciling to book, and computing tax depreciation expense
  • Research federal and state tax issues and assist in the development of ongoing tax strategies in order to minimize tax liabilities
Qualifications and Experience:
  • BS in Accounting required. CPA is a plus
  • Minimum of 2 years of public accounting experience with a Big 4 accounting firm required
  • Experience in corporate and partnership income tax return preparation in a multi-state environment
  • Familiarity with REIT and partnership tax accounting is a plus
  • Excellent Microsoft Office computer skills, including Excel & Word
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong work ethic, team player with strong attention to details and ability to work independently
  • Excellent critical thinking, problem solving, mathematical and sound judgment skills
  • Strong multitasking and organizational skills
